话说四川一座大学，位于城市郊外，平时就流传着不少令人奇怪的不可思议的故事。有一个女生寝室，住着7个女生，平日里相安无事，但是有一晚，——住在下铺的一个女生(我们暂且叫她小萍吧)怎么也睡不着。
这一晚又出奇的安静，静得连自己的心跳都能听到。室友们都睡了，只有小萍在床上翻来覆去，睁大眼睛。她看了看表，2点了，“哦，快睡吧，明天还要上课呢。”她喃喃地对自己说着。她仰着脸，突然，她发现床上挂的蚊帐在慢慢往下沉。住过宿舍上下铺的朋友都知道，挂在床上的蚊帐从上铺吊下来的样子。
她有点奇怪，开始还以为是风，但渐渐地发现象有个东西从蚊帐上面印下来，小萍仔细看看，是一个人脸的样子从蚊帐上浮现出来，慢慢清晰起来，就象一个石膏的人脸，而且是个男人的脸，还在对她笑。小萍浑身发冷，一跃而起，大叫一声，全寝室的人都醒了，大家纷纷询问什么事，小萍瑟瑟发抖，指着床，“有鬼，有鬼。”全寝室的女生吓了一跳，但左看右看，什么也没发现，“你在做梦吧?”“别开玩笑啊!”大家都还是有点害怕。“可能。”小萍也搞不清咋回事。“算了，睡吧，你一定做噩梦了。”
就这样，大家又回到床上，这一晚，相安无事。但是，从此以后，这个石膏一样的男人脸，就缠上了小萍，每晚都出现，这个寝室的人也再没睡好觉。不可能每天都做同一个梦吧?大家决定向学校反映这事，但有谁相信呢，但教务处的一个主任，想了想，告诉小萍和她的室友：“你们今晚回去睡，我带几个保卫人员守在寝室外，一旦有事，你们就叫我们。”
夜晚来临，小萍和室友们早早上了床。教务主任和五、六个保安，十几个自告奋勇的男学生守在门外。“这么多人，那鬼还会出来吗?”不知谁嘀咕着。
2点，小萍死死地盯着上面的蚊帐，那石膏一样的男人脸会出来吗?
一切都安安静静的，慢慢地，蚊帐往下沉，又来啦!那个白色的男人脸一样的出现，一样的盯着小萍笑，今天还笑得特别明显。“来啦!……”小萍大叫一声，刹那间，门外的人一涌而入，“哪里?哪里?”……“他没走，他没走，在那儿，还在笑。”奇怪的是，只有小萍能看到，其它人却看不到。“在哪儿啊?”大家都搞不清楚，在房间里左顾右盼。“在窗户那儿，……在那儿……到门口了，他要出去，……”大家随着小萍的手指方向，什么也看不见。“他的意思可能是要我跟他走。”小萍指着门口。“那就跟着他。”教务主任说。
于是，一大帮人拥簇着小萍出了寝室。小萍跟着那张脸，大家跟着小萍。一会儿，走出校门，来到校外的一个烂水塘边。那张脸对着小萍笑笑，一跃而入。“他跳进去了，跳进去了，不见了。”小萍叫着。
“马上叫人抽干水塘。”教务主任吩咐。第二天，有关部门前来抽干了水塘，猜猜发现了什么?一具男尸。
原来，几个星期前，这所大学失踪了一个男生，学校、公安人员四处寻找无果，想不到淹死在这里。
后来，证实了男尸正是那个失踪学生，他是失足掉入烂水塘的。人们把这男生生前照片给小萍看，小萍认出那张白色的脸正是此人。也许是这男生尸骨未寒想有人发现吧，但他为什么找上小萍就不得而知了。
